ONE of Bridgwater's gymnastics stars Corey Walkes is headed to Birmingham next week to represent Great Britain at the Trampoline World Championships.
Ahead of competing in this year’s FIG World Championships, Walkes discussed his love for the sport and the lessons he’s learnt from his career so far.
He said: "It’s just as important to enjoy the little competitions along the way so that you can remember the whole journey."
"It keeps you motivated so you can keep fighting for that end target."
In terms of his favourite aspect of competing, Walkes added: "It is like a relentless pursuit of perfection.
"The nature of the sport in that it is so high intensity, you have to hit everything perfect on the day, it is always chasing that feeling."
The FIG World Championships kicks off on Thursday, November 9 and run through to Sunday, November 12 in Birmingham.
Corey's goals of course are to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, so a good showing in Birmingham this week will go a long way towards that.
