Tribute Somerset League Division Three (South): Bridgwater & Albion Second XV 22-19 Tor RFC
Bridgwater Seconds hosted Tor at College Way on Saturday and at the end of a hard fought match it was the hosts who ran out the winners, writes Richard Walsh.
After a good start the home side opened the scoring mid way the first half when Cam Modley went over for a try that Ollie Phillips converted.
Tor then got themselves into the game and went over in the corner and following mistakes by Bridgwater scored a converted try to take the lead.
Just before the break Cam Modley went over for a try that Phillips converted to make the score 14-12 at the break.
Bridgwater extended their lead after the interval when Ethan Trebble- Westlake went over in corner for an unconverted try making it 19-12.
With 10 minutes to go Tor broke through the middle to score under the post to level the scores.
In a tense finish the hosts were awarded a penalty in the last minute which Ollie Phillips slotted home to make the final score 22-19 to Bridgwater and Albion.
Team manager Brendan Goddard said afterwards: “This was a great all round performance from the team and a really good start for Shaun Mahoney in his first game in charge.”
