Counties 1 Tribute Western North: Midsomer Norton 12-44 Bridgwater & Albion

BRIDGWATER moved up to fifth in Counties One Western West after this convincing away win over Midsomer Norton last Saturday.

In the only match played in the division, Albion chalked up their seventh victory of the season. It was a good all-round performance by Albion apart from the opening of each half when Norton snapped up tries. It meant the home outfit were competitive until well into the second half.

Kryan Dvitt was making his 100th appearance of the season for Albion and Jordan Buller his 50th - and both scored tries. Colt Jono Hayes also made his first team debut for Albion who bounced back from the previous weekend's 37-31 defeat at Clifton.

Bridgwater did not get off to a good start with Norton taking the lead in the tenth minute. The visitors lost possession and Humphries went over for a try which was converted by Rideout.

However Bridgwater hit back to lead 17-7 at the interval. Gavin Knight, Jordan Buller and Josh Frost all went over for three-pointers, with Harrison Greenslade kicking one conversion.

Albion were again punished for a poor start to the second half with McLouchlan going over for a try to make the score 17-12 to the visitors - and it was now anybody's game with Norton looking as though they could get something out of the game .

Albion heeded the warning and Greenslade responded with a penalty before Albion were awarded a penalty try which extended their lead to 27-12.

The visitors now began to dominate the game and Frost went over for his second try of the match which was not converted - putting Albion 32-12 ahead.

It was all Albion in the closing minutes and Finlay went over in the corner for a 37-12 lead. Kyran Dvitt also put his name on the scoresheet with a try which Greenslade added the points to make the final score 44-12.

Albion will be back in action tomorrow (Sat) when they play at home to eighth-placed Clevedon who lost 45-15 at home to Old Reds last time out.

Longlevens go into this weekend's round of matches with a six-point lead at the top of the table over Nailsea & Backwell.
