The Annual Captains’ Drive-In took place at Enmore Park Golf Club on Saturday when Club Captain, Rhys Morgan was joined by the Lady Captain, Tina Morgan, the Senior Captain, Chris Wilsteed and Junior Captain, Rory Lake, in the drive off from the first tee.

As usual there was a competition to guess the combined drive distance by the captains and this was won by Anita Leng.

The course was in such good condition after so many weeks of rain and Course Manager, Gary Cook, successfully ensured 18 holes were open with main greens, except for one hole where there was temporary green in place.

The weather was challenging with players facing hailstorms during both rounds.

There was a morning and afternoon shot gun start 4BBB competition with two scores to count which saw 194 members taking part.

The Captains’ Drive In AM Shotgun was won by Les Nurton, Geoff Poole , Riza Terzi and Ben Powell with 87 points, one ahead of second placed Jim McGuckin, Mick Bird,  Max Storey and Jon Storey with 86.

The Captains’ Drive In PM Shotgun ended with two teams tied on 82 points, but following countback it was Jack Dray, Curtis Ricketts,  Adam Wright and Ryan Brewer who were the winners just ahead of Leslie Dewdney, Jonathan White Steve Jones and Rob Chilcott.

The Best Ladies Team was  Tracey Clapp, Kay Taylor, Heather Neale and Rachel Johnson with 65 points

The Club Captain selected the winner of the car space draw which was Joan Dovey.  He also ran an auction for 4BBB Vouchers at Long Sutton GC in Somerset and Bush Hill GC in Enfield London.

Over £1000 was raised for the Club Charity Friends of Young Carers, which was a great start to the year.

The Drive- In day finished with fantastic entertainment from the ABBA tribute band which encouraged people to dance and sing along with the popular songs.
