ENMORE Park Golf Club Seniors got their season underway with an away match against Long Sutton.

The heavy overnight rain meant that the match was played on what proved to be a very wet course, which was waterlogged in places. Many thanks must go to the Long Sutton greenkeeping team for letting the game go ahead.

The conditions were difficult, and the Long Sutton captain warned the visitors to 'mind out for the alligators just off the fairway'.

Despite this, the team had a very enjoyable day. Most played a round of golf with no rain, which was a welcome change from playing 18 holes on the main greens.

The Enmore team's lack of playing time reflected in some players' rusty performances, and the overall result was a win for Long Sutton 4-2.

Congratulations to the winning pairs for Enmore: Rob Fear and Steve Howell, Rob Davey and Peter Scott. They adapted well to the conditions.

Rob Fear was also nearest the pin, winning a sleeve of golf balls.

Last Wednesday, the first of two ‘boredom buster’ events running through the Easter holidays took place at Enmore Park.

The first session saw seven youngsters aged between eight and thirteen (many of whom were complete beginners) learn new golfing skills, make friends, and play games in a fun-filled five-hour session organised and run by one of Enmore's PGA Professionals, Harry Brown.

'It was great to see the young people so enthusiastic as they tried out new skills outdoors in the practice area and inside trying out new golf putting skills.' Gwen Cavill Past Club Captain 2023.

The next session is Wednesday 10th, April and anybody wishing to enrol their child should contact the pro shop on 01278 672100 opt 3 or email harry@enmorepark.co.uk

Meanwhile, Enmore Park Golf Club will be hosting a Shania Twain tribute night on Saturday, April 20th, which promises to be a spectacular and entertaining event paying homage to the Queen of Country Pop.

Tickets, which are open to all, for this special evening, cost £13 per person and are strictly limited, so don't delay purchase today from the bar in the clubhouse or by calling 01278 672100 (opt 5) or by emailing bar@enmorepark.co.uk
