Western League Division One: Wincanton Town 1-2 Middlezoy Rovers
MIDDLEZOY Rovers ended a two-game winless run at the weekend with a strong away victory at Wincanton Town.
The match in the Toolstation Western League Division One ended 1-2 in favour of Middlezoy as they fought their way to three points.
The result sees them move to 11th in the league table while promotion chasing Wincanton took a hit and move to fourth.
Three points in this game added to the previous win over Wincanton this season meaning Middlezoy did the double on their high flying opponents.
In the match, two goals from club top scorer Liam Winter took the Rovers to a two-goal lead.
It wasn't until extra time that substitute Jamie Irwin pulled one back for the hosts but it was merely a consolation.
Man of the match was awarded to George Turner for his defensive effort dealing with one of Wincanton's marquee players.
A spokesperson from the club said: "A 2-1 win away to Wincanton Town FC in the Toolstation Western League makes it two wins against them this season is, no mean feet."
