THE Enmore Park Golf Club Ladies won their first-round Rogers Cup match against Weston-super-Mare at Orchardleigh last weekend.

The match was hard-fought throughout and played in sun, rain, and thunder, but thankfully, no lightning. The course was in excellent condition but, by the end of the match, there was lying water on both the greens and fairways.

The team lost two matches, one of which was on the 19th, and won two matches, 5&4 and the other 2 up. Of the remaining two matches, one was won on the 19th, and the other did not need to be completed on the 19th as the match was won.

Well done to the team of Pat Rodgers, Tracy Waring, Beth Ratcliffe, Tina Morgan, Julie Blumgart, Judith Sperring, and Nicola Toller.

Thanks must also go to the caddies, Gareth Parsons, Joan Dovey, and Chris Hannam, as well as to Heather Saxton, the on-course captain on the day.

The next round will be against The Mendip or Tall Pines at Stockwood Vale Golf Club.

Enmore’s Avalon Seniors team visited Isle of Wedmore, where they lost 3-2, giving them six much-needed points. Ted Merrell, Colin Galbraith, Rob Fear, and Richard Sykes were the winners.

Bill Boulter, with an impressive 45 points, won Saturday’s stableford, which included the Paul Elkins Trophy. Shaun Kirby was second with 42 points, while Ryan Brewer was third with 40.

Bank Holiday Monday's optional Stableford was won by Tim Bullock, but only after a countback put him ahead of Glynn Russ, who was second. Third-placed Dan Spencer, after all, scored 38 points.

The Tuesday Summer League Week Six winner was Martin Hill with 22 points, Peter Gouldby was second with 21, and Rob Chilcott claimed third with 20.

Suzanne Boydell and Isla Catto won the Ladies Coronation Foursomes 18-hole competition with 40 points, seven clear of second-place Ruth MacLennan and Wendy Walker, who returned with 33. Susan Hockley and Janet Waplington came third with 32.

Linda Anniss claimed the top spot in the Ladies' Individual 9 Hole Stableford with 15 points, three clear of her nearest rivals who both scored 12, but after count back, it was Lorna Walker who was second just ahead of Debra Perry.
