Congratulations to Enmore Park Ladies, who beat The Mendip at Stockwood Vale Golf Club in Bristol to advance to the semi-final of the county-wide Rogers Cup, writes Richard Walsh.

Enmore's Pat Rodgers, Julie Blumgart and Tina Morgan won three out of the first four matches on a short but challenging course. However, Enmore then lost three further matches to make it all to play for in the final contest. Jackie Woodman was one up going to the 16th and finally won 2&1. Enmore will now play Taunton and Pickeridge in the semi-finals at Cricket St Thomas.

On Wednesday, Pat Rodgers, Eileen Chave, and Alison Greenslade won the Ladies Walker Plate Team 18-hole Bowmaker with 75, one ahead of second-placed Janet Waplington, Linda Anniss, and Eileen Binding with 74. Joan Dovey, Karen Flanagan, and Linda Moore took third place with 69.

The Ladies' 9-hole Team Bowmaker was won by Chris Pashley, Carolyn Blackwood, and Heather Neale with 36, nine ahead of second-placed Anne Elliott-Rose, Miriam Bachelor, and Claire Down, who scored 27.

Despite the dire weather, the ladies from Wells and Enmore Golf Clubs managed to play a 9-hole match that was enjoyed by all, as was the very pleasant meal afterwards.

The Gents Invitation Day on Saturday saw 82 participants. It was a glorious day, so the players took advantage, and the scoring was great.

At the end of the day, Ian Edwards and Mark Sly claimed first prize with 48, two ahead of Lee Lewis and Mark Payne with 46. Luke Spalding and Tom Dickson were third on countback from Harry Millar and Warren Neale after both pairs returned with 45.

In this year's Senior’s Team Challenge for Bob Burton, the top five teams could only be separated on countback, at the end of which it was Kevin Lewis, Dave Capron and Terry Hogan who came out on top, edging ahead of John Payne, Michael Taylor and Tim Smith. Chris Keogh, Derek Norman and Andrew Kidsley were third; Ian Edwards, Dave Keates and Steve Lukins were fourth, while David Weston, Brian Puddy and Neil McCreery were fifth.

At the end of Tuesday's Summer League Week 13 competition, there was a three-way tie, but after a countback, Julian Palk claimed the top spot. Angie Bowden was second, and Phil Coombes came third. Players were tied on 22 points.

The rescheduled Junior Open took place on Sunday, 14th July, with over 30 juniors competing.

Jack McMeekin of Burnham & Berrow picked up the best gross prize with a 74. Ollie Roach of Cumberwell Park won the best nett competition with a fine nett 65.

Ronnie Santo of Worlebury had a brilliant score of 46 points to win the Stableford competition, pipping Hannah Katz of Wells by a point
