North Newton 127-8 (20ovs) lost to Bridgwater 3rd X1 128-2 (14.2ovs) by 8 wickets, writes Mike Moran.

Bridgwater 3rds moved into the Semi - Final with comprehensive win over North Newton at The Parks.

Choosing to bat first, the visitors got off to a good start using the power play to move to 44-2 by the 7th over but an accurate spell from Scott Clapp (1-12 off 4 overs) got the home side back into the game.  An excellent innings from A. Garadin of 57, supported by James Stone (15) and Dave Worthington (14) moved the score along to 71-3 but Newton could not up the run rate as a speedy spell from Calum Pope (3-7 from 3 overs) pegged them back as they closed on 127-8, perhaps runs short given the excellent pitch and fast outfield.

In reply, the home side lost James Salt early on, so Scott Clap was joined by the hard hitting Dan Rossiter and the pair added 70 to take the score to 96-2 before Clapp was dismissed for a well played 46 (3x4's and 4x6's).  Tom Fursland joined Rossiter and the pair saw their side home in the 15th over with Rossiter finishing on an aggressive 68no with 11x4's and 2x6's.

Bridgwater 3rds will now host Castle Cary in the Semi Final on The Parks on Sunday 28th July 11am start.  They lost the semi final narrowly at Castle Cary last season and will be looking to take their cup run one stage further.
