It was a double cup success for Bridgwater Cricket Club as both the firsts and thirds won in their respective finals.
As part of the Somerset Cricket Foundation club competitions finals day, Bridgwater firsts faced Bath and the thirds faced Lympsham and Belvedere.
Both sides came out victorious from the finals day held at Somerset County Cricket Club’s County Ground.
In the Major KO Cup final, Bath won the toss and elected to bat at the home of the 2023 T20 Blast champions but only six balls had been bowled when Bridgwater got their first wicket, with Charlie Sharland bowling Campbell McKegg.
Bath rallied and got to 46-1 when the second wicdket fell, as Max Toohey bowled Josh Norgrove-Gray for 13 runs.
46-2 became 46-3 when Charlie Brain was bowled by Luke Pearson-Taylor for 31.
Bath added another 1 runs before the fourth wicket fell, with Tim Rouse being caught by Alex Eckland off the bowling of Seth Locke.
Harry Ellison was the next batman to go for 15 runs as he was stumped off the bowling of Sharland.
When Charlie Rustell was caught by James Regan off the bowling of Matt Burton, Bath were on 94-6 but managed to get 114-6 from their 20 overs.
In response, Bridgwater got 11 runs on the board before the first wicket with James Regan falling for nine runs when he was caught by Charlie Rustell off the bowling of Jajmes Arney.
Bridgwater put on 16 runs for the second wicket before Ryan Thorpe was bowled by Arney.
When Luke Pearson was caught and bowled by Tim Rouse, Bridgwater were on 70-3 but Chris Skidmore (22) and Charlie Sharland (39) steered Bridgwater to a cup win.
It was then the turn of the thirds in their final. Bridgwater thirds won the toss and elected to bat.
The openers James Salt and Scott Clapp put on 44 for the first wicket before Salt was caught for 24 runs.
Bridgwater soon found themselves on 45-3 but a fourth wicket partnership of of 48 steadied the ship.
In the end, Bridgwater thirds were bowled out for141 a ball short of the innings ending.
In response, Lympsham and Belvedere put on an opening stand of 41 before the first wicket but Bridgwater kept taking wickets as their opponents were just getting settled at the crease.
Lympsham and Belvedere ended their innings on 140-6 – one run short of Bridgwater’s total. Giving the thirds the win in the Intermediate Knockout Cup.
Tom Wickens was the pick of the bowling for Bridgwater thirds with 3-19.
