CONGRATULATIONS to Enmore Park Golf Club on winning the Royals MET Shield for the first time in more than 10 years.

Played against Minehead and Tiverton last Saturday after the morning foursomes, the home side was on 12 points compared to Minehead's 18 and Tiverton's six.

The afternoon singles match started with Tiverton coming out with all guns blazing, claiming an incredible 33 points.

However, Enmore came through with a strong rearguard action as Minehead fell away. The final match score was Tiverton 39 points, Enmore 36 points, and Minehead 33 points.

It was a brilliant team effort, and all the players contributed well. However, congratulations go to Rob Chilcott, who scored a maximum of 8 points out of 8!

When the Avalon A team MET shield scores were added to the Royals MET team scores, Minehead scored 65 points, Tiverton scored 66, and Enmore won with 67.

The Mixed Atkins Trophy competition on Sunday attracted 40 entries, who participated in a draw for partners and scored well.

The conditions were challenging, with rain falling during the afternoon, but in the end, Christine Lewis and Stephen Howell won with 46 points. On countback, Lee Lewis and Tina Morgan took second place with 45 points, just ahead of John Payne and Lorraine Taylor.

The clubhouse was buzzing following the game, with players sitting and relaxing over a drink following their games. Thanks go to the Mixed Golf Group for organising all the competitions. Emore members offer a special thanks to Paul Henson, who sets up and closes all mixed competitions and is always present to ensure successful events.

The last two mixed competitions of 2025 are the Ryder Cup on Sunday, October 13th, and the Mixed Texas Scramble on Sunday, December 8.

Enmore A Team led by captain Ben Kingston visited Fosseway Golf Club to play a match they needed to win.

Playing in the final game, the captain and vice-captain, Dylan Nyce, knew what was needed and were three up after six. The hosts fought back before back-to-back birdies from the skipper secured the win.

Enmore had a tricky fixture against Tiverton and Minehead at the West Somerset course in the A-Team, MET Shield.

Ben Kingston and Dan Andison won both of their games, scoring the morning's first points, followed by Dylan Nyce and Will Marchant.

The morning's foursome scores saw Enmore lead the way with 11 points, closely followed by Minehead with 10, and Tiverton in third spot with nine, which set up for an exciting afternoon of Singles.

The singles were equally competitive, with hosts Minehead ending on top with 22 points, closely followed by Enmore on 20 points, and Tiverton in third. These scores, combined with those from the B team, led to Enmore winning the MET shield!

Terence Hogan won the Club Monthly Medal and Nigel Gange competition with a net 66. Shaun Kirby was second on countback from Peter March after both scored 67.

Paul Nicholson was the winner of Tuesday’s Summer League but only after count back put him in front of Neil Wicks after both returned with 22 points.
