BRIDGWATER and Albion Seconds were looking to maintain their winning start to the season whey they hosted Hornets Third XV at College Way on Saturday.
Hornets took the lead with an unconverted try on 10 minutes.
Albion won the ball from the re-start and good work from the forwards got the ball to Jono Hayes who went over to level the scores.
The hosts extended their lead when after good work by the midfield, Tommy Armstrong crashed over for an unconverted try, but just on the stoke of half time Hornets scored to make it 10-10 at the break.
After a quarter of an hour of the second half the visitors went over in the corner to take the lead, but the conversion was missed.
Five minutes later Tom Hopkins went over in front of the posts which Ollie Phillips converted to put the Albion back into the lead 17-15.
The hosts extended their lead when Will Roe went over for an unconverted try, shorty after which Ollie Phillips slotted home a penalty to make it 25-15.
Ollie Phillips finished off the scoring with the best try of the day as the match ended 30-15 to Bridgwater and Albion Second XV.
Afterwards team manager Brendon Goddard said: “They are the league champions of last season and the way we played today we were well up to the task that we faced.
“Next week we will travel to Crewkerne where the boys will hope to make it three out of three.”
