Crewkerne 5-31 Bridgwater & Albion Second XV

Bridgwater and Albion made it three wins out of three when they travelled to South Somerset to face Crewkerne on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

From the kick off the visitors were straight into the ascendancy and created pressure on the Crewkerne back line. The Albion won a scrum on the Crewkenre  22 following which good from the backs saw Tommy Armstrong go over for a try which Ollie Phillips converted.

After a period of pressure Crewkerne reaped their reward with an unconverted try making the score 5-7.

The hosts continued to enjoy a good spell in the Bridgewater half until good work from Sam Chillingworth saw him pass on to Armstrong who ran in from 35 metres for a his second try, that was not converted making the half time score 5-12.

After two minutes of the second half Crewkerne were reduced to 14 when they had a player yellow carded.

On 55 minutes Armstrong went over for his hat-trick try which was unconverted shorty after which Bridgwater had a player yellow carded.

Veteran scrum-half Roger Drabble was enjoying a good match and despite the visitors being a player down he went over for his first try that was converted by Phillips.

Good from Tristan Hudson and Karolis Urbonas saw the Albion awarded a penatly that

Was taken quickly by Drabble who ran through the Crewkerne defence before going over for his second try of the match which Phillips duly converted to make the final score Crewkerne 5 Bridgwater and Albion 31.

Brendan Goddard the Second XV manager said: “This was  a great performance and good to see some of the guys returning from injury doing so well. This is our first victory at Crewkerne for a long time.”

Next Saturday B&ARFC Second XV are at home to Wyvern kick off 3pm at College Way.
