Bridgwater & Albion Seconds were at home to Wyvern on Saturday and were hoping to maintain the winning start they had made to the season.
The home side started well and good work from forwards saw Tom Hopkins go for the opening try.
On 10 minutes good work from the backs resulted in Jono Hayes go over in the corner to make the score 10-0. Wyvern then started to play and scored a converted try to reduce the lead.
Bridgy won a scrum from the kick off and then good work by the forwards resulted in Karolis Urbonas scoring a try that Ollie Phillips converted to make it 17-7 after half an hour.
The home side kept up the pressure and a Tristan Hudson try extended the lead before Wyvern responded with a converted try.
From the restart Bridgewater, won the ball inside the visitors 22 from which the backs linked well with the forwards to let Roger Drabble go over for a try that Phillips converted.
Just before the break Urbonas went over for his second try making it 34-14 at half time.
Wyvern came out all guns blazing and scored an early try but the Bridgy Boys kept coming forward and on 50 minutes Cam Modley scored a try that Phillips converted.
Again Wyvern responded strongly with a converted try to make it 41-26, but the home team weren’t done yet and soon after Charlie Barnes scored a try. The visitors responded with another uncoverted try.
With eight minutes left on the clock, Bridgwater had a player yellow carded and from the penalty the visitors went over for try that was converted making the score 46-38, which it remained until the final whistle.
Brendan Goddard the Second XV manager said: “This was a great result and a hard and physical game. However we stuck to our game plan came home with a victory to make it four out of four to remain joint top in the league.”
The Seconds next game is on Friday 11th October against Weston super Mare Seconds starting at 7.30pm.
