Women’s FA Cup: Forest Green 2-4 Bridgwater United
Bridgwater United women went into the hat for the first round proper of the FA Cup after overcoming Forest Green.
The Robins travelled to Hartpury to face the side from the South West Women’s Premier Division on Sunday (October 13) and made two changes from the side that lost to Worthing in the league last time out.
Ellie-Mae Bell and Grace Phillips dropped out as Faith Bedford came in alongside new signing Manfy Sharpe making her debut.
The first half ended goalless but it took just eight second half minutes for Bridgwater United to put that right as a corner from Jess Smith finds Keeley Banfield whose step over allows Daniella Tyson to come onto the ball and score.
Two minutes later, it was 2-0 as Bethany Everson got on the end of a Tyson free kick and that soon became 3-0 when a throw in dropped to Everson who slotted it past the goalkeeper.
Forest Green got back into the game as they scored two goals in the space of eight minutes, but Bridgwater added a fourth as debutant Sharpe slotted home a penalty on 90 minutes.
