Weston super Mare Second XV 14- 22 B&ARFC Seconds
Bridgwater & Albion Seconds travelled to play against their Weston super Mare counterparts on a cold Friday evening and at the end of a hard fought match it was the visitors who ran out the winners making it five out of five!
The Bridgy Boys started well and following a line out and good work by the forwards Tommy Armstrong was driven over for a try that was not converted.
Midway through the half Weston came back into the game and after Bridgwater were reduced to 14 players following a yellow card, the home side scored a converted try to take the lead.
The visitors responded well and good work by Ollie Phillips and Sam Chillingworth, saw Lewis Randall score an unconverted try in the corner to put Bridgwater back into the lead.
Charlie Barnes worked hard to gain a penalty which Ollie Phillips put into the corner. From the line out a driving maul saw Karolis Urbonas go over for a try that Ollie Phillips converted to make it 7-17 at half time.
Midway through the second half Weston broke through the visitors defence to score and convert making the score 14-19.
The last 20 minutes of the game was hard fought as Weston tried hard to score, but instead it was Bridgwater who were awarded a penalty for not rolling away which Ollie Phillips converted to make the final score 14-22.
Team manager Brendon Goddard said: “We played some awesome rugby against a well drilled Weston side which came down from a league above last season.”
This result sees Bridgwater and Albion Seconds third in Counties 3 Tribute one point behind joint leaders Castle Cary and Wellington Seconds.
Next weekend Bridgy Seconds are at home to Chard Seconds, while the Third XV are also at home to Martock with both matches kicking off at 3pm.
