Bridgwater United have made it three defeats in a week at the weekend as Saltash took three points away.
After losing to Brixham away last weekend, the Robins also exited the Les Phillips Cup on Tuesday night against Devizes Town.
Bridgwater United completed a week to forget as they were beaten at home 2-1 by Saltash United.
Going int the game on Saturday (October 26), Bridgwater made four changes to the side that lost to Brixham with new signings Jake Llewellyn and Kyle Tooze both coming into the starting XI.
Llewellyn returns to the club after a short spell at Exmouth Town and Tooze comes from Thatcham Town.
Speaking to the club’s media before the game, the management team of Richard Pears and Andy Llewellyn said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jake back to Bridgwater United. His leadership on and off the field was missed, and we’re confident that he will have an immediate impact. The squad is stronger with him in it, and we’re excited to see him continue his journey with us.”
Lewis Smith and Benjani Jr also came into the starting XI for the Saltash game. Ryan Crawford, Robert Farkins, Luke Newman and Craig Woodman all dropped out.
The game started disasterously for Bridgwater as the visitors score almost directly from kick off and on five minutes only the post stopped it becoming 2-0.
Then on 10 minutes, Bridgwater began to threaten as Jamie Piece was unable to convert a flick on. Two minutes later, it was Bridgwater United’s turn to hit the woodwork as debutant Tooze hit the bar.
The Robins got their rewards three minutes later as a free kick from Liam Winter found the net.
Saltash created a few more chances in the first half but a combination of good defending and poor finishing saw the score remain 1-1 at half time.
Three minutes into the second half, Saltash United did add their second.
Kyle Tooze looked dangerous on debut for Bridgwater United, but he had three second half efforts fly over the bar before he had one cleared off the line four minutes from time.
