Bridgewater United hit Welton Rovers for five on a successful away day for the Robins on Saturday (November 2).

Goals from Jack Taylor, Kyle Tooze, Ryan Crwford and Liam Winter sealed victory for United against the team who are anchored to the bottom of the division and are yet to pick up a point.

The Robins are now 11th in the table having won eight of their 18 games this season.

Following the defeat to Saltash United last time out, Bridgwater made four changes with Craig Woodman, Ryan Crwford, Preston Hopwood and Finlay Koppa all coming in for Benjani Jnr, Tatenda Pfupa, Smith James and Liam Winter.

As you would expect, Bridgwater United made the faster start to the match with Kyle Tooze testing the Welton goalkeeper with an early cross and the Robins having a number of corners early on.

Tooze was proving to be a thorn in the Welton side earliy on and it took the home side until the 19th minute to have their first chance.

But a minute later, Bridgwater were deservedly in front as Jamie Price played a ball up to Tooze who found the run of Jack Taylor who finished well.

Five minutes later, United had a spot kick as a Welton defender went up for a header with Tooze and went down, grabbing the ball and the referee pointed to the spot. Tooze took the penalty himself to score his first goal back at the club.

Ryan Crawford was the thickness of the crossbar away from making it 3-0 but that was the score going into half time as Crwford got on the end of a Taylor flick.

Bridgwater started the second half in much the same way they ended the first, creating chances.

On 68 minutes Kai Fisher came on to make his debut as a substitute for Jamie Price. He is a former Bideford and Tiverton Town central defender.

Going into the last 20 minutes, Welton had their best chance of the game but failed to hit the target.

Two minutes from time, Bridgwater added their fourth as Jack Taylor added his second of the game and Liam Winter added the fifth in stoppage time.

The Robins are now one game short of the half way stage in the league, and while they are in mid-table, they have played more games than the majority of teams around them.

Bridgwater United were due to face Shelton Mallet away on Tuesday night but that was been called off. They are next in action away at Wellington AFC on November 16.
