On Monday, Enmore Park Golf Club hosted the annual match between the Senior Men and the Ladies Section for the Croad Shield, a competition that is always keenly contested and enjoyed by all.
Anita Leng and Kevin Lewis organised the event well, and Tim Smith supported its administration. Even the weather was kind to everyone.
Once again, the match was a very close affair, and ended in a draw, with both sides scoring 3.5, which meant the Ladies retained the trophy.
A lovely carvery followed the match in the clubhouse, where there was lots of fun and chatter around the tables.
On Wednesday, over 40 women took part in the 9-hole shotgun Bowmaker competition, which was played on a brilliantly warm day, encouraging everyone to play golf.
The winners were Jackie Jarvis, Betty Edney, Beth Ratcliffe and Nicola Thompson with 39 points, closely followed by Wendy Walker, Anne Weston, Fiona Ryan and Linda Moore with 38.
Afterwards, Anne Weston and Eileen Binding organised a rules quiz, which everyone enjoyed. Most people learned new things about golf as groups chatted about possible answers to the quiz questions.
On the same day, Lady Captain Tina Morgan organised a 'Pre-Loved Golf Clothes' sale, which raised £200 for the Club’s Charity Friends of Young Carers.
A dozen Enmore Ladies Past Captains attended the Somerset Ladies Past Captains’ 30th Anniversary Lunch last week at Isle of Wedmore Golf Club.
This special event, attended by over 70 people, brought together former captains from across the county to catch up on their old and new stories while enjoying a delicious meal.
Enmore Park's Sunday Carvery is open to the general public from 12.30 onwards in the clubhouse throughout November.
