Counties 3 Tribute Somerset South: Bridgwater & Albion 2nd XV 25 v 21 North Petherton 2nd XV RFC
Bridgwater and Albion Second XV bounced back to winning ways when they beat near neighbours North Petherton in a hard fought local derby match at College Way on Saturday afternoon.
The Bridgy Boys started strongly and had the better of the play during the first half, leading 15-7 at the break thanks to tries from Aidan Robinson and Mason Shaw one of which Ollie Phillips converted and a Phillips penalty.
Ten minutes into the second half Phillips slotted home another penalty to extend the home sides lead.
However the Pethy lads were far from done and fought back to lead 18-21 with 20 minutes remaining.
This set up an exciting finish to the match and with just a few minutes left super sub George Burton Shaw went over for try in his first game back after 14 months through injury which Phillips duly converted
Second XV manager Brendon Goddard said afterwards: ““What a game of the rugby by this great team, and there is more to come. There was a good crowd in attendance who were kept entertained throughout the entire game. “
The Second XV’s next game is in two weeks when they travel away to play at Tor on the 23rd November.
