Bridgwater and Albion RFC lost 21-6 to Clifton Wanderers XV despite a promising performance.
The home side, despite the defeat, showed resilience and determination, creating several scoring opportunities against the visitors, who recently defeated Taunton.
Clifton started the match strongly, with Sam Pine scoring a converted try between the posts shortly after the kick-off.
Bridgwater fought back, with a notable run from Kyran Devitt taking them deep into Clifton territory, but they could not convert pressure into points.
Clifton's Jack Bowyer scored another converted try on the 20-minute mark after a slick move across their backs, extending the visitors' lead.
Bridgwater's pressure paid off just before half-time when Devitt successfully slotted a long-range penalty, bringing the score to 3-14 at the interval.
Devitt kicked another penalty soon after the break, further narrowing the gap.
However, Clifton responded quickly, with Jason Grinstead scoring a converted try 10 minutes after the restart.
Despite trailing 21-6, Bridgwater continued to press forward, creating several more attacking moves, but they were unable to break through Clifton's defence.
The match ended with Bridgwater unable to score a try, finishing at 21-6.
Next, Bridgwater & Albion host Chew Valley RFC in the Webb Ellis Somerset Cup on Friday.
