Bridgwater United’s game with Buckland Athletic was one of only two games to survive the weather on Saturday.

However, Robins’ fans may have wished that the game had been called off as their side lost 4-0 to side who currently sit in the play off places in the Western League.

Going into the game, The Robins will have been confident, having put four of their own past Wellington away last time out.

Bridgwater United made four changes to the side that beat Wellington, with Kai Fisher, Ryan Crawford, Preston Hopwood and Hayden Chambers coming in for Michael Duffy, Jake Llewellyn, Jamie Price, Josh Wadham.

It was visitors who made the faster start and Liam Kingston was forced into a save on 19 minutes.

Buckland took the lead on 26 minutes when Tegan Rosenquest scored from 20 yards to give them the lead.

Liam Kingston was called into action for Bridgwater United again on 32 minutes as he blocked a shot and on 36 minutes the Robins created a chance when Taylor found himself one-on-one but the Buckland goalkeeper was able to save.

On the stroke of half time, Buckland took a 2-0 lead when Adam Hill headed home from a corner.

Bridgwater started the second half well with Taylor having his shot saved by the keeper again on 65 minutes but less than 60 seconds later, Buckland made it 3-0 when hesitation led to Richards scoring for the visitors.

Taylor had another chance to score a minute later but his header went wide and on 79 minutes, Buckland completed the scoring.

The result leaves Bridgwater United in 11th place on 28 points, having won nine and drawn one of 20 games so far this season.

The Robins have been in good form recently securing big wins over Wellington and Welton Rovers in the league. They have come unstuck in the cups though – losing to Tadley Calleva in the FA Vase and to Nailsea & Tickenham in the Premier Cup.
