A teenager who went to school in Bridgwater has competed in an international boxing tournament.
Evan Burns 16, competed in a 4 nations box cup in Swansea at the weekend, representing Taunton ABC.
Evan, a former Roberts Blake pupil and current Bridgwater college attendee, boxed on Saturday (November 23), He showcased a highly skilled performance to win a unanimous points decision, giving his opponent a standing eight count in the 3rd round to make it to Sundays final.
On Sunday, fighting a welsh boxer, Evan knew he was up against it, he boxed superbly and followed his coaches instructions.
After three three-minute rounds of superior boxing skills shown by Evan and to everyone’s surprise, the Welsh boxer took the gold medal on a split decision.
One of his coaches said Evan comes away with a silver medal and lots of experience gained, he should be extremely proud of is performances and sportsmanship over the weekend.
