IT was the final week of Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League matches and there were still a few issues left to be resolved, such as who would be Division One runners-up, who would join Malt Shovel in Division Two and could the Buccaneers complete the perfect ‘22 and 0’ season?
Well the answer to the latter was yes.
The Buccaneers made it 22 wins out of 22 with a 7-2 victory over the New Foresters.
Railway B completed their season on a high note by beating The Globetrotters 5-4.
White Hart B pinched third spot from their pub mates White Hart A after they beat Sydenham Centre 6-3 with the aid of a Phil Lanham 180.
The A team lost 5-4 to Withy Lions.
Sportsman’s Nathan Allen hit a 180 but his team went down to a 6-3 defeat at the hands of The Spectres and No Hopers won only their second match of the season 7-2 over Blake Arms.
In the top flight the battle for second spot came down to a straight shoot-out between the Prince of Wales and Hope Inn, who had home advantage.
But it wasn’t enough to see them through as Prince won 6-3, with Paul Blackwell hitting a 130 out.
At the other end of the table it will be Railway A who go down to the second division after they were beaten 6-3 by Crown Inn.
The other relegated side, Malt Shovel, finished their season on a positive note by beating British Flag 5-4.
Blake Riversiders avoided the drop despite being beaten 8-1 by champions The Squib.
