MERCURY travelled away to top of the league Millfield with a number of their regular players absent.

Despite Mercury making a confident start, the unbeaten Millfield side pulled away to a comfortable first quarter lead of 21 – 5.

Morgan Middleton (GD) and Rosie Pares (GK) worked hard to defend the attacking circle against a strong Millfield shooting duo.

Down 36 – 7 at half time, Mercury made some positional changes and introduced Courtney Steele in at WA for her first senior game.

Despite playing in an unfamiliar position, Daniella Seban worked very hard to pass the ball around the court, linking up well with centre court players, Emma Reynolds and Courtney Steele.

With the three quarter time score at 52 – 10 the girls set themselves a target of reaching 15 goals. They came out strongly in the last quarter and with some accurate shooting from Lily Rowland and Karis Holleron at GA they exceeded their target.

Despite losing 74 – 16, the girls never gave up and fought for every ball. Player of the match was Karis Holleron
