Bridgwater Town boss Rob Dray said he offers no excuses for his team, who lost 4-0 against Thatcham Town on Saturday.

The loss sees Bridgwater just fourth from the bottom of the table, but with 15 games left, Dray insists there is still a lot to play for and is determined to pick the team up.

He said: “It’s been a hard week. It’s very difficult to put your finger on just what’s wrong.

“We defended really well, but were 3-0 down at half time, and that’s down to basic individual errors.

“It’s the same errors happening over again, sometimes down to a lack in concentration, but it’s difficult to repeat scenarios in training.

“But we’ll keep going, that’s all we can do.

“There’s no excuses, we just didn’t play to our potential.”

This has certainly been a tough season for the club, which has lost players, suffered injuries and suspensions while dipping into one of the smallest budgets in the league.

Andy Gurney, who stood in on a cameo level has now retired, and Bridgwater have lost Jack Durrant and Mike Mackay to injury, but despite all the obstacles, Dray remains positive.

He said: “We’re trying to improve confidence levels because they are down, they are hurting.

“You have got to get your head up and could back very quickly after a loss.

“I think we are a mid-table side when we are playing well week-in week-out, but we are not doing that at the moment.

“You can’t be negative about it. Negativity breeds bad, bad things.

“I still think we can certainly finish a lot higher.”

Next week sees Bridgwater travel to play Gosport Borough away.
