ALBION’s second string came back fighting following ‘so-so’ performances in recent weeks.

The opening exchanges were a bit frenetic as Yatton made the most of the slope and wind advantage sportingly offered to them after Bridgwater had won the toss.

In a rare excursion into the home team's 22, Dan Gooding managed to catch the Yatton defence dithering and his persistence created the chance for Dave Norman to open his try scoring account for the day. The conversionwas missed and Bridgwater were soon defending again as Yatton harnessed the elements to kick themselves into Bridgwater territory.

They were rewarded with a try under the sticks and the simple conversion pushed them into a narrow lead.

They stretched the lead a few minutes later when Gooding undid his good work by back- chatting the referee who awarded Yatton a simple penalty in front of the posts.

Nick Bradley cleverly chipped the onrushing defensive line and just won the race to the line to gain a vital try. The conversion was missed but Bridgwater took a narrow lead to take into the second half.

Gooding replaced Drabble at No 9 for the second half and Doug Page-Symonds was introduced to bolster the scrummage with Jerry Darley moving to the flank.

The transformation in the second half was nothing short of amazing. With Yatton visibly wilting, United began to score tries from all over the pitch. Rich Will helped himself to a hat-trick, Matt House added to his first half score and James Brakes also weighed in with a couple.

The final nail in their coffin was probably applied by a wonder try from Darley who picked up the ball in his own half, stepped through a gap in the Yatton threequarter line and then turned on the gas to outrun the defence in a lung-bursting 60 metre gallop to the line. Not bad for a 6ft 7in second row.

There was still time for Bradley to run in a final try from distance as Bridgwater.
