THE Sunday teams in the two divisions of the Uxella League battled for points this weekend. In division one, the two sides that until recently were the top dogs in the top flight – Tiger Old Boys and Woolavington, were both beaten convincingly. Crucially, Tigers were beaten 0-5 by their title rivals Red Tile. Shane Thompson, Steve Hall, Andy Smith, Scott Capel and Damon Jennings scored for Tile. Tile now only need four points from their next four games to retain the Uxella League title – assuming Tigers win their remaining two games.

Flag Old Boys beat Woolavington 6-1 – with Jordan Rawles scoring twice, and Martyn Allen, Jamie Stewart, Mark Witchell and Kev Chorley adding one each.

In division 2, Blake enjoyed a comfortable 9-0 victory against Admirals. Jamie Winter and Ian Grubb scored hat tricks and Simon Newbury, Pete Prichard and Lewis Fox added one each.

Highburn beat NM Sports 6-1 in a shock game which saw Sport’s manager Bobby Hughes sent off at half-time. Ross Bowman scored a whopping four goals for Highburn, with Wes Darrington and Dan Bastow adding one each. Sammy Godfrey scored for Sports.

Huntspill and Maxwells drew 1-1. And Knowle made an impressive come back - from 3-0 down – to win 6-3 against Ramblers. Rob McKinlay scored two for Knowle and Scott Woodberry, Dale Curtis and Sean Tippetts added one.

Phil Court scored two for Ramblers and Dean Howe added one.

New Forresters beat Middlezoy 3-1.

In the Dave Hobbs Cup quarter-finals Maltshovel took a 1-0 win over Puriton, with Paul Organ scoring.
