HEAVY rain on Friday night meant eight games were lost to waterlogged pitches on Saturday, including four in division one.

The one game to survive in the top division was a crucial one, however.

Middlezoy, who were second before kick-off, fell to a 4-2 home defeat to Predators, who move up from third to first, albeit having played three games more than Porlock, who are now second.

Gary Head, Damon Jennings, Ryan Weston and Luke Selway got Predators’ goals. The home side benefited from an own goal and a Callum Laird effort.

Bridgwater Sports v Dulverton Town, Bishops Lydeard Reserves v Cannington Colts, Alcombe Rovers v Locomotives and Porlock v Highbridge Town were all postponed.

Just one game – Bridgwater Sports Reserves v Sampford Blues – was called off in division two. That cancellation allowed North Petherton to leapfrog Sampford into second with a 3-2 win at Westonzoyland, thanks to two goals from Craig Wright and another from Tom Wadham. Sam Weston and Carl Tucker scored for the home side.

Kevin Warre scored a consolation as Nether Stowey were beaten 5-1 at Staplegrove Reserves.

In division three, Chris Lemarchand and Simon Fouracres helped Highbridge Town Reserves to a 3-1 win at home to Redgate. The other two goals were own goals.

Sydenham Rangers v Stogursey and Wembdon Saints v Bridgwater Sports Colts were called off.

In division four, bottom side Nether Stowey Reserves held leaders Alcombe Rovers Reserves to a 1-1 draw, thanks to an Andy Rolland strike.

Ben Patrick scored twice and Craig Patrick got another but Rhode Lane Wanderers still went down to a 5-3 defeat at home to the in-form Hamilton Hawks.

And in division five, Aaron Chidgey, Jack Gardner, Neil Hurford and Josh Crook all scored as Wembdon Saints Reserves won 4-1 at North Petherton Reserves; Jason Mantyk got the home side’s goal.
