Bridgwater'S winning revival continued when they completed a first double of the season against Bideford on Tuesday evening.

The 11 starters all featured in the win against North Leigh last time out and confidence from that result showed in the early stages.

Brimson had the team's first effort when firing wide.

Bideford pressed down the right, but Bridgwater's defence was looking very solid. The hosts were unable to test Wood, in defending a 28-minute penalty, which was wide after Brimson, tracking back, had tripped Laird.

The pitch handicapped both sets of midfielders in their efforts to support their front men and consequently goalmouth action was limited.

Jones was often isolated up front and he was the victim of several hefty challenges.

Pitcher came to the rescue with an important block to halt a good Bideford move down the middle.

Both Thomas and Brimson, each coming in off their wings, were halted by good tackles.

Half time came with the scores level, as were the number of corners, offsides and cautions.

Pitcher, having a good game, again had to quit early but Turner proved a sound replacement and he and Nunn gave Bideford few opportunities, while at the other end the sting had gone out of the Bridgwater attack.

Middleton, giving close support to Brimson, ceased on the loose ball, spotted space, drove forward and his 22-yard shot took a deflection to wrong foot the keeper and gave Bridgwater the lead on 66 minutes.

Kenny, receiving from Thomas, made a long exciting run down the middle and his pass to Brimson resulted in the winger's shot going just wide.

Bideford responded with a screamer from full back Barker that flew just over the bar.

A minute from time, Bridgwater sealed the win with a second goal. Brimson, winning the ball in midfield, made an attack on goal, his control sent him a little wide for his intended shot on goal. Instead he squared the ball for a tap in and first goal of the season for Mercieca.

Having gone 21 games without a shut out before the game against North Leigh, Bridgwater immediately produced another, which reflects their better defending.

Bridgwater Town: Wood, Farmer, Nunn, Pitcher (Tuner 59), Middleton, Lyons, Robertson, Thomas, Jones (Mercieca 62), Kenny, Brimson.
