THIS was Bridgwater's fifth game without a win or even a goal but for long periods of the first half it looked as though the drought was about to end.

Time and again Bridgwater bore down on an over worked Stourport defence which somehow kept the score-line goal-less at the break.

Although Town had by far the lion’s share of possession during the first period, they failed to carve out a clear cut opportunity but had several half chances to take the lead.

Alexis Piper, who worked hard throughout the match, had four or five half chances to put Town ahead but either shot too close to keeper Paul Evans or his control let him down at the vital moment.

Kyle Thomas kept the right side of the Stourport defence occupied and the midfield of Andy Robertson, Simon Lyons and George Brimson worked hard to keep Bridgwater on the offensive.

Little was seen of the Swifts in attack although Stuart Wood was called into action on 19 minutes when Lewis Pountney threatened but the home stopper was up to the task.

The second half saw a complete transformation as Stourport threatened to break the stalemate on several occasions.

Only poor finishing by the Midlanders kept the score-line blank as little was seen of Bridgwater as an attacking force during a one-sided last 45.

Jack Durrant, Neil Peek, Josh Turner and Matt Townley, backed up by the midfield, were kept on their toes by attack after attack from Stourport but the Swifts were woeful with their finishing.

Piper, to his credit, worked tirelessly up front to try and get something going but all too often he lacked support or the final ball went astray.

The game finished on a sour note as Brimson completely lost his head following an incident on the half way line in front of the new stand and was quite rightly sent off to leave Town to play out the last couple of minutes with ten men.
