Bridgwater Town Reserves achieved their biggest away win of the season on Saturday, despite only having two first-choice defenders available.

There were seven changes from the side which had beaten Castle Cary in midweek, but the new-look Bridgwater made a dream start.

After just 28 seconds, Jake Adey, making his first start for Bridgwater, converted Connor Watts’ excellent cross to put the visitors ahead.

The lead was doubled on two minutes, when Mangotsfield’s keeper came rushing out to make a clearance, and the ball fell to Ian Bellinger. From just inside his own half, Bellinger went for an audacious effort which flew in from fully 50 yards.

Bridgwater spurned further opportunities but within 15 minutes, it was 3-0, when Watts ran through on goal and finished coolly.

And it became a rout on 20 minutes, when Oren Koslowski produced a terrific lob from 20 yards into the top corner.

Mangotsfield stuck to their task and reduced the deficit on 35 minutes, when a free-kick led to a goalmouth scramble and the ball was prodded in from a yard.

After 65 minutes, the home side made it 4-2, bundling the ball home following a corner, but Bridgwater had the final say, when substitute Adam Long released Bellinger who produced a clinical finish.
