Bridgwater Town produced their worst home performance in front of their lowest crowd of the season as visitors Yate Town completely dominated this match from start to finish, writes Brian Austin.

Town, already without star players Chris Young and Andy Robertson through injury, were further disrupted before kick off when both Josh Turner and Mat Pitcher succumbed to injury during the warm up.

Yate were ahead after six minutes as a poor defensive error let in Meaker who easily beat Wood from close range.

It was all Yate at this stage but Simon Lyons, Kyle Thomas and Jack Durrant worked hard in midfield to try and get Town going forward but Yate looked strong in all departments.

Adie Adams forced Wood into another save before Joe McClennan put Yate two up on 23 minutes with the home defence nowhere.

On 38 minutes Yate made it three when another defensive mistake left Edd Vahid with an easy header from eight yards.

Bridgwater rallied in the second half and at last gave the Yate defence something to think about. Simon Lyons saw his shot well saved and Alexis Piper was just unable to reach the parried rebound.

Bradley Middleton shot from distance and Ancin saved at the foot of the post. Matt Townley then did well with a cross from the by-line but the keeper's fingertips took the ball away from the onrushing home forwards.

Yate again threatened - looking dangerous on the break.

With six minutes remaining substitute Niekell Plummer scored the goal of the game when he created space for himself 20 yards out against a static defence, before firing the ball into the corner past Wood.

A Townly free kick was well saved and Mercieca shot wide but then deep into injury time Wood pulled off two great saves but couldn't prevent Mark Badman making it five as he followed up to net the rebound.

This was a very poor performance by Town who have now gone seven matches since they last recorded a win and have failed to score in any of them. It was also Town's 12th home defeat of the season.

Bridgwater will now have to re-group before Tuesday’s trip to North Leigh as the home side will be out to avenge their 4-0 defeat at Fairfax earlier this year and the original game at North Leigh which was abandoned because of fog with the home side leading 5-0.

Bridgwater Town would like to thank match sponsors, The Davey Clan, and ball sponsor Bill Monteith for their generosity.
