Bridgwater and Albion coach Nick Hill admitted his players are punching above their weight as inexperience cost them in their clash against Newton Abbott.

The visitors deservedly came out on top at Bath Road on Saturday and Hill is now looking for a response from his players ahead of their next match at Old Patesians next Saturday.

He said: “I was a little bit disappointed with the result but they are a good side and we have to learn to play for 80 minutes because we suffered momentary lapses of concentration where we would go ahead and then switch off.

“But that will come with experience and we are punching above our weight in that we have a small squad and inexperienced players.

“We had a new central partnership on Saturday who performed well but I can’t expect miracles – we are in a league where most sides pay their players and we don’t so we have done really well to be where we are.”

Hill said he took a lot of positives from his team’s performance and praised his players’ commitment to the cause but admitted things “just didn’t go our way”.

He added: “Small margins cost games and it didn’t work out for us but that will come with experience.

“We’ve got Old Pats next and it will be a challenge but we will make a real fist of it. We have two games left and we want to reward the fans for their excellent support all season.”

Hill also thanked the Friends of Bridgwater and Albion for putting on a sponsored day on Saturday for the club.
