SECOND division met first in this highly anticipated match between arguably the best two teams in the county league set up.

Keynsham started brightly and probed down both flanks but were equally met by a well organised and dogged Bridgwater defence.

Only a few break aways at either end amounted to any goalmouth action but wayward shooting meant the scoreboard was never in danger.

The second half saw Bridgwater change formation and it paid off as they dominated the early possession. Chelsea Pitt and Anneka Russ both had long range shots saved while the Bridgwater defence had to deal with countless long balls to snuff out Keynsham attacks.

At the death Keynsham missed the best opportunity of the game as a goalmouth scramble led to the Keynsham forward firing over from only a yard out.

The first half of extra time passed without much incident but the second saw the opening goal as Bridgwater failed to clear convincingly and a hopeful lob left stand in keeper Ami Ward with no chance.

Bridgwater seemed galvanised by conceding and were only behind for four minutes as Russ pounced inside the six yard box after the Keynsham keeper had spilt an Emily Morris cross.

The game went to penalties and Bridgwater took the early advantage when the Keynsham captain struck the bar with her kick.

Bridgwater replied with successful spot kicks from Hannah Brown, Pitt and Ward while Keynsham, who scored their second kick, missed their third through a fine stop from Ward.

Bridgwater missed through Russ and Keynsham scored their fourth but after firing wide with their fourth Bridgwater won 3-2 and now go on to meet Shepton Mallet in the final on April 24.
