WITH a break in the league, Pethy travelled to Stowey to play a select XI in an evenly fought contest.
Luke Hellier had Pethy’s first attempt on goal which then led to several other chances. Kieran Bickham had the best chance but his header only managed to find the post.
Pethy almost took the lead at the start of the second half from Keegan Griffiths. Then Andrew Blake got his first goal for the club as he smashed in through a crowded box.
Griffiths doubled the lead three minutes later and Ethan Kunc found the bottom corner from just outside the box.
Bickham had a late penalty saved. Pethy’s defenders coped well near the end as Stowey piled on the pressure but it was the forward play from Petherton that caused more problems as they deservedly held on for their first victory over Stowey in four meetings.
