Bridgwater’S final game of the season was at this season’s runaway champions Torbay.

The visitors went into the game confidently but Torbay proved why they were top driving forward with skill.

But Bridgwater’s defence of Durkin, Morrish and Baldwin, matched them with key tackles.

Bridgwater finally mustered their first chance and went ahead when Turner passed to Bennett who drilled the ball for Rawles to deflect past the keeper’s head.

This helped their confidence grow and Turner stole the show taking on most of the opposition to bury the ball home.

Baldwin then stopped a certain goalbound effort at the end of the half.

Bennett then set up Rawles for another goal at the start of the second half but after a succession of corners Torbay got back into it.

As the home side pressed a through ball found Rawles all alone who, despite being on a hat-trick, passed to Pigden to slide into an empty net.

Torbay still could not find a way past the resilient back three but as tiredness and injuries set in and Rawles was handed a yellow card and the hosts scored two quick goals with five minutes left.

Bridgwater fought back hard and Codd made some fantastic saves in the dying moments and they held on for the win.

Bridgwater hope to retain their place in the league with promotions and relegations from all divisions yet to be decided.

Men of the match were J Rulz and A Turner.
