ROB Dray praised the character of his side following their 2-1 win over Yate Town.
Town fell behind to a dubious penalty early in the second-half but goals from Dave Pearse and Graham Mercieca ensured Bridgwater wrapped up their ninth win of the season.
Bridgwater were without Ollie Barnes and Danny Wring through suspension but Dray said the performance was extremely pleasing.
He added: “It was a funny game and even though we went behind we have learnt to win a little bit ugly at times.
“They were a side on a good run with good players and a decent budget so we knew it was going to be tough but the lads showed massive character after the penalty.”
Left-midfielder Pete Monks, 25, returned to the club following a two-year stint in Australia and Dray hailed his return as a success.
“Pete Monks had a good start for us, he is a good lad and we are pleased to have him back at the club.”
The club's next match is a trip to Tiverton Town on Boxing Day. Kick-off is 3pm.
