The two most impressive performances from this week’s Somerset Pathway matches, a century and a five-wicket haul have come from the Boys Under 15s fixture against Cornwall that was played at Wombats CC ground near Bishops Lydeard, writes Richard Walsh.

After opting to bat first, Somerset openers Theo Lamey and Hanson Martin put on 167 in 24.3 overs before Lamey was out for 100, which he scored off 81 balls and included 14 fours and two sixes.

Hanson remained at the crease until he had helped to take the total on to 249 when he was seventh out for 91 off 100 balls with 14 fours and two sixes. Lower in the order, Noah Lewis- Jones was run out for 38, Thomas Watson made 36, while Jack Blackwell remained unbeaten on 26.

When Cornwall responded, they reached 225 for eight from their 50 overs, Robert Patch claiming five wickets for 44, to give Somerset victory by 108 runs.

Somerset Girls Under 18s hosted Wales in the One Day Knock Out Cup at the Old Bristolians ground where, after winning the toss and batting, the visitors were all out for 89 in 33 overs, Lola Harris taking four wickets for nine runs from nine overs, four of which were maidens, while And Balasubramanian took three for nine from four overs.

When Somerset replied, they reached 90 for two in 20.2 overs, thanks to opener Laila Moledina, who was unbeaten on 39 and Emma Phillipson who was not out 19.

Somerset Boys Under 18s were involved in two T20 matches against their Gloucestershire counterparts at Taunton Vale.

In the first game, the visitors chose to bat and scored 144 for nine from their overs, Archie Vaughan claiming three for 23, in reply to which Somerset reached 145 for five in 14.4 overs, which included 50 for Fin Hill off 30 balls and included six fours and two sixes, 42 from Rishabh Shimpi and an unbeaten 24 from Seb Linnitt.

In the second game, Somerset batted first and scored 167 for nine, which included an opening partnership of 90 between Fin Hill, who made 38 and 69 from Thomas Rew which came from 34 deliveries and included seven fours and four sixes, and 22 from James Matravers.

Gloucestershire in reply scored 152 for nine, Blaise Baker claiming three for 13 while Alfie Moloney took three for 26.

The Boys Under 14s were in ECB County Cup Group 3 action against Gloucestershire at Three Ashes CC where after opting to bat first the home side were all out for 182 in 38.1 overs.

Somerset Under 14s reached 186 for two in 22.1 overs, thanks largely to an unbroken third wicket stand of 104 between Harvey Coleman, who ended unbeaten on 92 which came off 58 balls and included 13 fours and four sixes and 35 not out from Nicholas Watson.
