I WELCOME the widening of the rivers and it is indeed a good idea, but what of the Parrett in Bridgwater?
The river banks there are in a dreadful condition and could do with not only cleaning up but also being turned into a feature of the town centre.
With dredging and shoring up, those banks could be a feature, making the town centre a tourist area if the roads there were pedestrianised with restaurants and bars allowed to put out tables etc.
At present the area is a disgrace.
